Introduce yourself

My name is Take Van. I’m a singer/ songwriter from South Florida. I usually go by Van lol.

Who are some of your musical influences?

My teen years were basically run by The 1975 so they definitely have an impact on my whole as a being. Marina and the Diamonds, Sade, Lana. I feel like everyone has their own identity when it comes to music.

What’s the meaning behind your name?

Everyone calls me Van so it’s like Take me with you.Take Van with you. If you connect with the music in any sort of way then that’s the whole idea behind that.

You reference relationships a lot in your music. Any tips for teenagers going through heartbreak?

 Appreciate yourself. Love yourself.

You have been gaining quite the audience the past year. How does it feel to have so many new eyes on you?

It’s like an odd adventure

Anime? Video Games? Films? What do you do besides music? Any weird talents?

I paint and make doodles. I love doing makeup. I’m also a horror movie fanatic.

What inspires your eccentric fashion sense?

I think I dress pretty lazy. I like to get ready fast so it’s mostly whatever’s convenient.

Is there any pressure being an emerging young female of color in the

Being a person of color there’s always a sort of pressure no matter what career you find yourself going into. If you’re in love with music or any other thing in the world then go for it. Accomplishing your dreams is a lot more fun than wishing you would have.

You seem to be very selective with who you work with. Who are your favorite artists and producers to collaborate with?

I’m always open to working with anyone who’s on a similar vibe as me. But working with producers like Guala beatz, Kassgocrazy, Xansung, and Jonfx has no doubt helped me to grow confidence as an artist. The whole creation process is still the coolest thing to me.

Do you believe in aliens? Alternate Universes?

If we’re living the lives we’re living now, there has to be another source of consciousness out there in whatever Space is. Infinite possibilities and universes. I’m currently a Human Being on Earth so nothing I say is truly factual.

What is your recording process like?

I usually have lyrics or poems written out from events that occur throughout my life and I’ll make a song that goes to it. Or I’ll hear a really cool beat and just sing.

What’s more important in a relationship, honesty or loyalty?

Every relationship is different just as every body is different. Honesty and loyalty are both important and if you choose one over the other you’d just be a dickhead.

What was it like growing up in Miami? How has the music scene there influenced you?

Miami is insane. The music scene used to make me want to be someone I wasn’t. I’m definitely grown and on my own vibe now.

Where will TAKE VAN be in 10 years?

Makeup is something I’ve always been curious in. I want to make TAKE VAN a brand as a whole. But we’ll see.

What’s your motive in music?

I would like to inspire anyone with a dream. To accomplish goals and make the best out of this life. That’s the whole idea of it.

Well that’s about it. Any parting words for viewers?

Thanks for being attentive!
